The recalled garden tractors have a 44-inch cutting deck, an 18- or 20-horsepower engine, a yellow base, and a black seat and steering wheel. The model name ("Cub Cadet") is printed in blue on the engine hood near the steering wheel, and the model number (#3184) is printed in large numbers on the hood of the tractor. The name "Cub Cadet Corporation" and the model number are also printed on the model plate label affixed to the lower frame near the right front wheel.

Curious George Toys (BRIO) – Detachable Backpack Risk (2001)

These Curious George monkey plush toys are dressed in a yellow plastic space suit with matching gloves. They have a detachable backpack with a red fabric-filled mobile phone attached. The small mobile phone is 1.25 inches by 1.5 inches, and is connected to a gray, mesh backpack by a 4.75-inch string sewn into one of the backpack's seams. A label in the collar of the space suit reads, "Curious George by BRIO." This is an "Activity George," which is written on the packaging, and is labeled for children ages 18 months and older. The back of the box reads: "Removable backpack with mobile phone!" The recalled toy has model number 32900 written on the front of the box.

Announce Recall of Infant Seat Pads WASHINGTON, D.C.- In cooperation with the U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC), Basic Comfort Inc., of Denver, Colo., is voluntarily recalling about 16,000 infant seat pads. The seat pad has two shoulder straps that create a v-shaped opening around the head and neck, presenting a strangulation hazard to young children. Basic Comfort received one report of an 8-month old girl who was caught by the neck in the shoulder straps of the seat pad after falling sideways off a chair. The child was removed from the seat pad without injury. The seat pad was sold under The Baby Sitter brand name. The infant seat pad is designed to restrain a child on a chair in a sitting position. It has a padded back and seat. The seat pad is attached to a chair by Velcro straps attached to the sides of the pad. The front of the seat pad has two straps attached near the top of the pad that go over a child's shoulders and connect to a single crotch strap. The seat pad is a denim blue color with white restraint straps. Department and juvenile products stores nationwide including JC Penney and One Step Ahead sold these infant seat pads from October 1998 through May 2001 for about $11. This product is an infant cushion manufactured by Battat for Parents? magazine. Infant pillows and cushions have been banned under the Federal Hazardous Substances Act since 1992 because they pose a suffocation hazard to infants. In addition, two 8- to 9-inch cords, which attach toys to the cushions, pose strangulation hazards. Battat has received one report of the cord attached to the rattle on one of these cushions becoming wrapped around the neck of a 7-month-old baby boy, causing red marks. The airplane-shaped cushions, measuring approximately 27 inches long by 21 inches wide, are covered in various solid-colored cloth panels, and are filled with plastic foam pellets. They have a "smiley face" on the front with a propeller that spins and makes clicking sounds, and a plush nose. The back of the cushion has a circular target design. Side pockets on the wings have a "My First Passport" book with circle teether and a heart-shaped rattle attached. The cushions' hang tag reads in part, "Parent's PLAY + LEARN ...Fun and safe for all ages...Battat Inc... Made in Thailand." Writing on the packaging states that the product can be used for infants 6 months and up to nap, and that the cushions are "not considered a safe sleeping area for babies." Target stores nationwide sold the cushions from September 2000 through May 2001 for about $24. Consumers should take the cushions away from children immediately and return the cushions to a Target store for a refund. The following firms distributed these toys: Bonita Marie International Inc., of Manasquan, N.J.; Dillon Importing Co., of Oklahoma City, Okla.; Oriental Trading Co. Inc., of Omaha, Neb.; Play By Play Toys & Novelties Inc., of San Antonio, Texas; Rhode Island Novelty, of Johnston, R.I.; Sherman Specialty Co. Inc., of Merrick, N.Y.; Toy Investment Inc., of Kent, Wash.; and U.S. Toy Co. Inc., of Grandview, Mo. The balloon tongues and the cylinders holding the tongues on these toys can detach, posing a choking and aspiration hazard to young children. The Promotional Resources Group of Companies Inc., of Topeka, Kan., previously recalled about 105,000 Bug Zapper toys on June 6, 2000. That company received a report of a 3-year-old boy who inhaled a balloon tongue that detached from a Zapper toy into his sinus cavity. He required medical treatment to remove the part from his nose. The vinyl Zapper toys are about 2- to 3-inches long, and come in 12 different styles: smiley face, globe with glasses, troll, bumble bee, lion, bear, tiger, raspberry face, fish, frog, snake, and lizard. When the toy is squeezed, the balloon tongue attached to its mouth inflates or rolls out. "CHINA" or "MADE IN CHINA" is molded into the toy. Toy stores, doctor and dentist offices, and carnivals and circuses sold and distributed these toys from October 1998 through March 2001. They were sold for about $1. Consumers should immediately take these toys away from young children and take them back to where they were purchased for a refund, or throw them away. These cribs/play yards can collapse and entrap an infant. In January 2001, a 9-month-old baby in Longview, Wash., died of asphyxiation when her neck was caught in the V-shape created by the collapsed sides of her crib/play yard. There have been three other deaths and three reports of babies found not breathing (who were revived) associated with these products. In 1995 Baby Trend offered a free repair for the cribs/play yards. To encourage consumers to search for these recalled cribs/play yards, Baby Trend is now offering a free, new play yard to consumers who find and return the recalled product. Baby Trend is launching a new effort to reach caregivers by including flyers in new products and putting notices in newsletters distributed by child advocacy organizations. This summer, recall posters will be displayed in post offices around the country. There were 100,000 "Home and Roam" and "Baby Express" portable cribs/play yards sold between 1992 and 1994. The crib/play yard can appear to be set up properly even if the top rails are not fully locked. If the crib/play yard is not set up so that each top rail is securely locked in position, a baby can be caught by the neck and strangle. All Home and Roam and Baby Express model cribs/play yards are recalled (recall information can be found on Baby Trend's web site at http://www.babytrend.com/recall2.jpg). The words "Home and Roam" or "Baby Express" and "Baby Trend" appear along the top rails. The cribs/play yards were priced from $60 to $130 and were sold nationwide from 1992 to 1994. Consumers should search their homes and day care centers for these portable cribs/play yards. Stop using them immediately and call Baby Trend toll-free at (800) 328-7363 to get a free, new play yard. Baby Trend portable cribs/play yards sold since 1994 have different side rails and are not recalled. CPSC has previously announced the recall of several other portable cribs/play yards with rotating top rails that can collapse and entrap a child in the folded top rails. CPSC is aware of 14 deaths to children when the top rails of play yards collapsed. A new safety standard requires that the top rails of play yards automatically lock into place when the unit is fully set up. In addition to the Baby Trend "Home and Roam" and "Baby Express" models, CPSC obtained voluntary recalls of the following play yards with top rails that people had to turn into place when setting up the unit: Evenflo "Happy Camper, Happy Cabana, and Kiddie Camper;" Century Models 10-710 and 10-810; and Kolcraft "Playskool Travel-Lite Model." The forks on these bicycles can break apart, causing riders to lose control and fall. By Us International Co. previously announced the recall of 13,500 of these forks in May 2000. The firm has since disclosed that more of these forks are included in the recall. There have been 26 reports of forks on these bicycles breaking resulting in nine riders, including teenagers, suffering serious head and bodily injuries, abrasions, bruises and chipped teeth. The recalled forks were installed on Mongoose S-20 and MGX S-20 bicycles, which are orange, and the Roadmaster Ridge Rider bicycles, which is red. The forks on these bikes are black with decals that read "BALLISTIC" and "105" on the sides of the suspension fork legs. Discount department stores, including Wal-Mart, and toy stores sold the bicycles with these forks nationwide from June 1998 through June 2000 for between $125 and $150. Consumers should immediately stop using these bicycles and call the firm to determine if the fork on their bike is part of the recall. Consumers should have the serial number of the forks available. The serial number is located on the inside of the suspension fork leg. Consumers with recalled forks will receive a free replacement fork and free installation. Announce Recall of Crayola® Toddler Boots WASHINGTON, D.C.- In cooperation with the U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC), BBC International Ltd., of Boca Raton, Fla., is recalling about 38,000 pairs of Crayola® toddler boots. The toggle, a small plastic ball attached to the laces, can detach, posing a choking hazard to young children. CPSC and BBC International are not aware of any injuries or incidents involving the toggles on these boots. This recall is being conducted to prevent the possibility of injuries. The recalled Crayola® boots come in boys' and girls' styles. The boys' boots are blue and black with a toggle on each boot to use to tighten the laces. The boots have a patch featuring a space scene with a "crayon rocket." The girls' boots are white with pink and lavender trim, and also have a toggle on the laces. The patch on the side of the girls' boot shows a snow scene of two kittens. Both style boots were sold in sizes 6 through 10. A tag on the side of the boots reads, "Crayola®." "MADE IN CANADA" is imprinted on the bottom of the boots. Discount department stores, including Ames, Bradlees, Anne & Hope and Forman Mills, sold these boots from September 1999 through December 1999 for about $20. Consumers should remove the toggles from the laces of these boots immediately and throw the toggles in the trash. Consumers can return the boots to the store where purchased for a refund. The battery chargers are model number DW9116, which is written on the front and bottom of the charger housing. The chargers are black with yellow lettering. "DeWALT" is written on the front of the chargers. The recalled chargers have date codes from 9927EM through 9952EM and 0001EM through 0031EM located on the bottom of the charger. These chargers are for 9.6- to 18-volt batteries used with DeWALT cordless tools. Chargers with a yellow or green dot sticker near the date code already have been repaired, and are not recalled.

Announce Recall of Play Sets to Replace Swing Chains WASHINGTON, D.C. - In cooperation with the U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC), Rainbow Play Systems Inc., of Brookings, S.D., is voluntarily recalling about 7,000 play sets to replace swing chains. The chains can break while children are swinging and cause the swing seats to fall to the ground. Children can suffer injuries from falling to the ground while swinging. Rainbow Play Systems has received seven reports of chains breaking. A 3-year old boy suffered scrapes and a bruise to his head when he fell to the ground after a chain broke. During inspections, distributors found four defective chains. The swing chains are used on all models of Rainbow Play Systems play set swings and are covered in yellow or green vinyl. Rainbow play sets are made with redwood, and feature more than 50 different models and custom designed sets. In addition to swings, the play sets features include various types of slides, rope ladders, rings, ladders, canvas- covered forts and castles, and fire poles. "Rainbow Play Systems" is written on the slides. Rainbow Play System stores nationwide sold the play sets with the defective chains from March 2000 through June 2000 for between $1,200 and $6,000. Consumers should stop using the swings on these play sets immediately, and contact the company to determine if the chains are defective. If so, remove the chains and return them to the store where purchased for free replacement chains. When bent, these teething rings can fit into an infant's mouth and trigger a gagging reflex. This poses a risk of vomiting, which could result in choking and aspiration. Whitehall-Robins Healthcare has received two reports from consumers of children gagging on the teething rings, including one report of a child starting to choke. These teethers were sold with .25 oz. tubes of Baby Anbesol® Grape Gel, an oral anesthetic. The teethers are yellow and shaped like rabbits. They are about 3 inches long and 2.25 inches high. Two holes are molded into the teething ring for infants to grasp. The packaging reads, "THE BABY'S TEETHING KIT," and "FAST TEETHING PAIN RELIEF." Mass merchandise, drug and grocery stores nationwide sold Baby Anbesol with these teethers from May 1999 through June 2000 for about $6. Consumers should take these teething rings away from infants immediately. Announce Recall of Wooden Pull Toy WASHINGTON, D.C. - In cooperation with the U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC), Maxim Enterprise Inc., of Middleboro, Mass., and Zany Brainy Inc., of King of Prussia, Pa., are recalling about 4,900 wooden pull toys. The pull toy's wheels can break off and the bead can detach from the pull string, posing small parts choking hazards to young children. The firms have received a report of wheels coming off and a report of the bead detaching from the pull string. The detached bead was found in a child's mouth. No injuries were reported. The toy is called the Wooden Pull Along Bead Coaster, which is written on the packaging. It is a flat, wooden platform with wooden wheels, and is about 10 inches long. On top of the platform are twisting, red and blue plastic wires threaded with multi-colored beads. The red pull string that attaches to the platform has a bead at the end. "BEAD COASTER" is printed on top of the wood platform of the toy in multicolor block letters. The pull toy was part of a toy box set from the "Childhood Classics Wooden Chest and Toy Collection." Despite the claims, CPSC is not aware of any evidence that proves that babies can safely be placed to sleep on their stomachs on these products, or that using the products will reduce the risk of SIDS. Parents and caregivers should never put babies to sleep on their stomachs, whether on these products or any others. The following products make the claims through their advertising and marketing, including their instructions and packaging. Due to the efforts of CPSC, these firms have stopped manufacturing and distributing the products. CPSC, Backyard Products Announce Recall of Trapeze Swings on Backyard Gyms WASHINGTON, D.C. - In cooperation with the U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC), Backyard Products, of Ontario, Canada, recalled its 60,000 "Acrobatic Swings," sold with backyard gym sets in the U.S., for in-home repair. These trapeze swings have exposed bolts that cause serious lacerations to children. Backyard Products had received reports of six children suffering severe lacerations that required stitches to the arms from contact with the trapeze bolts. Injuries occurred when children dropped down from the overhead ladder, or fell or climbed onto the exposed bolts. The recalled trapeze swings were sold with Backyard Escapes, Backyard Products and WOW Wooden Play Centers brand gyms. Each gym set comes with various equipment, which can include an overhead ladder, slide, swings, or fort. The trapeze swing has a wooden bar and rings. The wooden bar is attached to the swing chains by a "U-bolt" bracket, whose bolts are too long and extend upward above the nuts. Department, toy, discount, lumber and hardware stores nationwide, Including Toys "R" Us, Service Merchandise, Costco and Sears, sold the gyms with trapeze swings from December 1998 through July 1999 for between $250 to $450. Consumers should remove the trapeze swings from the gyms immediately and discard or destroy them. The firm is out of business and the repair program is no longer available. Trapeze sets that are attached by a rope-type assembly are not included in this recall. Consumers can also view a video clip about this recall (Transcript).
