Honeywell Portable Heaters – Burn Risk (2012)

This recall includes Honeywell Surround Select Series portable electric heaters with model numbers HZ-420, HZ-430, and HZ-440 and five-digit date codes that have 11 as the last two digits. The heaters are black or white cylinders with a handle on top. The model number is stamped into the plastic on the bottom of the heater. The date code is located on the metal prongs of the heater's electrical plug. "Honeywell" and "Surround Heat" are printed on the front of the heaters. This heater was distributed by Kaz USA under license from Honeywell.

FOR RELEASE Originally issued August 28, 1986; Revised April 1, 2005 Release # 86-53 Echo Recalls Model Cs-500VL Chain Saw Washington, DC -- In cooperation with the Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC), Echo Incorporated of Lake Zurich, Illinois today announced the voluntary recall of all model 500VL gasoline powered chain saws manufactured from 1979 to 1980. Some 8,500 Echo model 500VL chain saws with flywheel problems are being recalled voluntarily by the company and replaced with a new solid- state magneto chain saw at no cost to the consumer. The firm said a special tool is required to remove the flywheel during routine chain saw maintenance, but some flywheels have been removed by consumers without aid of the tool. If the flywheel becomes distorted as a result of such removal, the flywheel may be subject to stress and vibration. Pieces of the flywheel may fly apart and strike the operator as was the case in the three accidents reported to Echo, which resulted in lacerations, fractures and amputation to the fingers of the operator's left hand. Consumers should discontinue using the Echo 500 VL chain saw immediately. Owners of Model 500VL chain saws with serial numbers inclusive to 0023000 should contact their Echo Dealer to arrange for replacement of the saw at no charge. The new Echo saw, model 510 EVL, comes equipped with a solid-state electronic magneto which is not removed during routine maintenance. Weed & Grass Trimmers Recalled by Echo NEWS from CPSC U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission Office of Information and Public Affairs Washington, DC 20207 FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE September 30, 1983 Release # 83-050 CPSC Warns Of Accidents With Elastic Straps On Echo Weed And Grass Trimmers Washington, D.C.-- In cooperation with the Consumer Product Safety Commission, Echo Incorporated, Northbrook, Illinois, today announced a voluntary recall of approximately 62,292 elastic harnesses with spring loaded snap hooks used on Echo gas powered Weed and Grass Trimmers, Models No. SRM-200 DA and SRM-200 D, because the metal hook may snap back and cause eye or other facial injuries. According to the firm, the trimmers were distributed through Echo distributors from November 1977, to December 1979. The elastic harness (Echo Parts Catalogue No. 300 500 02 73 0) worn by the operator consists of an elastic cord which is attached to the shaft of the trimmer by a snap hook. Under certain conditions when the cord is under tension, the snap hook can be released and fly back into the face of the operator. The weed and grass trimmers sold at retail for approximately $219.95. Echo has received 2 reports of severe eye injury and 1 report of dental damage due to the unexpected snap back of the hook. Consumers should immediately discontinue use of the elastic harness and return it to an Echo dealer for a free replacement harness.
