Gun Cabinets (Stack-On) – Lock Malfunction (2000)

Only those Stack-On brand gun cabinets and Sentinel gun cabinets with push button locks are being recalled. The brand name is printed on the front of the cabinet door. The model numbers being recalled are GCP-910 or GCP-914 for the Stack-On brand gun cabinets, and GPW-14 for the Sentinel brand gun cabinets. The gun cabinets are a burgundy color and hold either 10 or 14 rifles or shotguns up to 54-inches tall. The cabinets are made of heavy steel with a single key, chrome-finished handle that moves a locking bar into place. The 14-gun cabinet measures 21 inches wide by 18 inches deep by 55 inches high. The 10-gun cabinet measures 27 inches wide by 10 inches deep by 55 inches high. The cabinets were sold with adjustable storage bins that attach to the door for storing pistols, ammunition and cleaners.

These KX65 Model Year 2000 motorcycles have a Vehicle Identification Number (VIN) located on their frame behind the front fork. Recalled motorcycles carry VIN numbers with the last four digits between 0001 and 6668. The motorcycles are small, two-wheel, off-road motocross competition vehicles designed for rough terrain. The fenders and bodywork are lime green with large "Kawasaki" decals on each side.

When the cords are pulled, the toy plays music as the cords retract.

The serial number can be found engraved on the back side of the fork's crown and on a bar code sticker attached to the fork's lower leg. "RockShox" and the model name are written on the bicycle forks. These forks were sold as original equipment on numerous brands and models of bicycles. These forks also were sold separately.

CPSC, Tek Nek Toys Announce Recall of Children's Riding Vehicles WASHINGTON, D.C. - In cooperation with the U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC), Tek Nek Toys, of Mokena, Ill., is recalling about 294,000 battery-powered children's riding vehicles to replace the battery chargers. The vehicles' battery charger or wires can overheat, presenting fire and injury hazards to children. CPSC and Tek Nek have received 17 reports of battery chargers and wires overheating, while vehicles were being charged. Two consumers burned their hands while unplugging or charging the vehicles. The Tek Nek vehicles being recalled are powered by one 6-volt battery and were manufactured before April 2000. The vehicles are made of plastic and were sold under the following model names: Prowler, Dodge Ram, Corvette, SPX Motorcycle and Honda. The model name appears on each vehicle. Some models have working lights and horn, engine and music sounds. A label on the vehicle reads "MADE IN CHINA." Tek Nek vehicles are intended for children 1-1/2 to 4 years old, and the vehicles' speed ranges from 1 to 2 mph, depending on the model. Toy stores and discount department stores sold the vehicles nationwide from July 1998 through April 2000 for about $89. Consumers should stop using the vehicles immediately and contact Tek Nek at (888) 900-0155 between 8:30 a.m. and 5 p.m. CT Monday through Friday to receive a free, new charger. CPSC, Kinderkids TM Announce Recall of Inflatable Playrings for Babies WASHINGTON, D.C. - In cooperation with the U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC), Kinderkids TM, of Lawrence, Kan., voluntarily recalled about 18,000 inflatable playrings. Babies sit inside the playring, which is used as an activity center and looks like a pool float. When a baby leans his face against the side of the playring, the soft surface covers the baby's nose and mouth, restricting airflow, and posing the risk of suffocation. CPSC has received one report of a 6-month old baby found gasping for air after falling asleep face down in the playring. The baby was removed from the playring without injury. CPSC is aware of infant suffocation deaths when their airflow is restricted from contact with soft surfaces. The recalled playring, which measures 40 inches in diameter, has a yellow, plastic, inflatable, inner tube with a multicolor cloth covering. The cloth covering features eight activities for babies, including a boat rattle, a mirror flower, a soft teether on a puppy's collar, a butterfly, and a squeak ball and fish. A tag on the bottom of the cloth covering reads "Warning!" and "Recommended for children 6 to 18 months." The packaging reads, "Discovery Playring," "MADE IN CHINA" and "Not to be used in water." They are sold with plastic foot pumps for inflating the playrings. Walmart stores, and One Step Ahead, a mail-order company, sold the playrings from July 1998 though April 2000 for between $20 and $35. Consumers should stop using the playrings immediately and discard or destroy these products. The firm is out of business and cannot be contacted, and a refund is no longer available.

Announce Recall to Repair "Le Cradle" Bassinets WASHINGTON, D.C. - In cooperation with the U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC), Kids Line Inc., of Los Angeles, Calif., is voluntarily recalling for repair about 46,000 Le Cradle bassinets. Infants can become entrapped in an opening between the bassinet's side and mattress platform and suffocate. Additionally, fabric can separate from the metal frame. Infants can be injured when they scrape against or become caught in the frame. Kids Line has received one report of a 3-month-old boy in Oakland Park, Fla. who died when he suffocated after becoming trapped between the bassinet's side and mattress platform. Three other infants were scraped and bruised from contact with the metal frame that became exposed when the fabric separated from the frame. Kids Line is offering a free in-home repair kit, designed to secure the fabric around the bassinet to prevent entrapments and exposure to the metal frame. The recalled bassinets were sold under the name "Le Cradle Bassinette." The bassinet has a white metal base with wheels and a removable canopy. The oval bassinet itself is made up of a metal wire frame and a wooden base board that rests on the metal base. A sticker on the mattress platform gives instructions for use of the bassinet and says, "Le Cradle, Kids Line, Los Angeles, California." A fabric-covered foam mattress covers the wooden board. Matching fabric covers the bassinet frame, and comes in various colors and designs. Children's products stores nationwide sold the bassinets from January 1989 through May 2000 for between $100 and $200. On January 25, 2000, a 4-month-old boy in Indianapolis, Ind., reportedly suffocated when one-half of a Pokemon ball that was in his crib became stuck on his face. Burger King Corp., in cooperation with CPSC, issued a voluntary recall of more than 25 million Pokemon balls on December 27, 1999. The balls pose a suffocation hazard to children under three years of age. In December, a 13-month old girl reportedly suffocated when one-half of a Pokemon ball covered her nose and mouth. Also in December, an 18-month old girl nearly suffocated when a ball-half got stuck over her face. On the second attempt, the girl's father was able to pull the ball-half from her face.Pokemon balls are plastic, ball-shaped containers between 2.75 and 3 inches in diameter. They pull apart to reveal one of 57 different Pokemon toys inside. The balls were distributed in a variety of colors including red and white, and hot pink. Packaging described them as safety tested and recommended for all ages of children.Burger King restaurants nationwide distributed the Pokemon balls inside Burger King big kids meals and regular kids meals from early November through December 1999.Consumers should immediately take the balls away from children under the age of three. They should discard the ball or return both halves of the ball and the clip to a Burger King restaurant for a free order of small fries. Children can continue to use the Pokemon toy that came inside the ball. As part of the voluntary recall effort, more than 8,100 Burger King restaurants posted recall notices in both English and Spanish. When the recall was first announced, Burger King placed an ad in USA Today, and CPSC broadcast a video news release so local television stations could use video tape showing the danger. CPSC Chairman Ann Brown also announced the recall on the Today Show reaching millions of viewers.In addition, Burger King worked with the CPSC to send recall notices to 56,000 pediatricians' offices, 10,000 emergency room directors and 25,000 emergency health care clinics across the country. Notices were posted on the CPSC and Burger King web sites, and on web sites frequented by Pokemon fans and parents. Recall notices will be posted on tray liners, carry-out bags and french fry bags as well.Burger King also will purchase national cable and network television advertisements to alert consumers to the recall. The upper doors or upper door components can fall off, causing injury to nearby consumers. Sauder Woodworking has received 143 reports of an upper door or its components falling off, resulting in 17 injuries, including a broken toe, cuts, scratches and bruises. The recall involves the Monarch style computer armoire, models 2549 (washed pine finish), 2649 (woodland oak finish), 2749 (classic cherry finish), 8449 (fruitwood finish), and 9649 ( amber oak finish). The Monarch Computer Armoire measures about 41.5 inches wide, 23 inches deep and 73 inches high with the doors closed. Two upper doors open to reveal designated areas for a printer, monitor, and keyboard. Two lower rollaway doors open to provide additional work surfaces and a file drawer. "Sauder" is imprinted into two metal strike plates, located in the corners of the upper doors. The model number is located on a sticker that the consumer attached to the armoire or in the assembly instruction book. Department, office and furniture stores nationwide sold these computer armoires from July 1997 through December 1999 for about $450. Consumers should stop using the computer armoire immediately and call Sauder toll-free at (888) 800-6315 between 7 a.m. and 11 p.m. ET Monday through Friday and between 9 a.m. and 5 p.m. Saturday to order a free repair kit. The repair kit includes safety brackets for installation on both doors and installation instructions.

CPSC, Manufacturers Announce Recall to Replace Toy and Youth Basketball Nets WASHINGTON, D.C. - In cooperation with the U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC), Franklin Sports, Huffy Sports and Lifetime Products are announcing a voluntary recall to replace the nets on 900,000 toy and youth basketball sets. Children could strangle on loops or openings in nets that come unhooked from the rim or have knots that slide. If children put their heads into these openings, the net can get tangled around their necks. Franklin Sports has received one report of a 3-year-old boy getting his head and neck caught in a basketball net. Huffy Sports and Lifetime Products have received no incident reports. No injuries have been reported. In December 1998, Fisher Price, Little Tikes, Ohio Art and Today's Kids recalled 10.1 million toy basketball sets to replace their nets. This recall followed 20 reports of children under 5 getting their heads and necks caught in the nets, including the death of an 18-month-old child. Consumers should immediately inspect their basketball sets for nets that can unhook from the rim or have knots that slide. The basketball sets with nets that need to be replaced come in a variety of colors and include a nylon net and plastic or metal hoop attached to a plastic, youth-sized pole. The pole is set in a plastic base and adjusts from 3 to 6 feet high. Franklin Sports recalled basketball sets are called "Slam Dunk Youth Basketball Set." Huffy Sports recalled basketball sets are called "Youth One-On-One." Lifetime Products recalled basketball sets are called "Shoot Case." The manufacturer's name is on the backboard, base or hoop of each toy. The manufacturers will help consumers determine if the nets need to be replaced. Toy, sporting goods, mass merchandise and discount department stores nationwide sold the basketball sets since 1993 for $13 to $40. Basketball sets sold in stores today, by the participating manufacturers, have nets that are attached securely to the rim and are not involved in this recall. In addition, nets on full-sized portable or in-ground sets over 6 feet high are not recalled. Consumers should remove and throw away nets that can unhook or have knots that slide. Manufacturers will send consumers new nets that securely attach to the rim and do not have sliding knots. The basketball set can be used without a net until the new net arrives. Announce Recall to Repair Ranch King Tractors WASHINGTON, D.C. - In cooperation with the U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC), WCI Outdoor Products, Inc., of Cleveland, Ohio, is recalling for repair about 1,600 Ranch King tractors. The fuel line on these tractors can be misrouted near the ground drive belt or steering gears, which can result in it becoming damaged or cut, and allowing gasoline to spill. This poses a risk of fire and burn injuries to consumers. WCI Outdoors Products, Inc. has received one report of a minor fire and two reports of damaged fuel lines. No injuries have been reported. There are two models of the tractors being recalled. There are more than 1,500 Ranch King 18.5 HP tractors being recalled, with the manufacturer's ID: RK185H46A. "American Yard Products Inc." also is written on this label. These hydrostatic drive tractors were sold with a 46-inch mower deck. "Ranch King" or "Ranch King Pro" are written on the sides of these tractors. Quality Farm & Fleet stores in Michigan, Ohio, Indiana, Pennsylvania, New York, West Virginia, Virginia, Kentucky, Georgia and Tennessee sold these tractors exclusively. They were sold from February 23, 1999 through May 28, 1999 for $1,399 or $1,699, depending on the model purchased. Consumers should stop using these tractors immediately. Announce Recall of Television Carts WASHINGTON, D.C. - In cooperation with the U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC), Sauder Woodworking Co., of Archbold, Ohio, is recalling about 2 million television carts. The carts can tip over and injure children and adults when the cart and the television fall. Sauder has received 13 reports of these carts tipping over and the television falling. Two injuries have been reported. A 3-year-old girl suffered a skull fracture, and an adult woman suffered a bump to the head and a cut finger. The television carts being recalled are brown oak (model 5155), black oak (model 5055) or white oak (model 5251). The model number is not on the cart, but it is on the instruction booklet that came with the cart. Most of the carts have the name "Sauder" on the casters or on a metal plate on the inside of the cart's door. The carts measure 29.5 inches wide, 25 inches high with casters and 15.5 inches deep. The carts can hold a television and a VCR. The shelf holding the television swivels, and there is a bottom shelf with hinged double doors. Discount stores, home centers and furniture stores nationwide sold these television carts from March 1989 through September 1998 for about $35 to $49. The carts were sold ready-to-assemble. Consumers should remove their televisions and VCR's from the carts immediately and call Sauder toll-free at (888) 800-4590 between 7 a.m. and 11 p.m. EDT Monday through Friday or access their web site at www.sauder.com. Sauder will help consumers identify if their cart is part of this recall, and send them a free repair kit. The repair kit will help prevent the cart from tipping over.
