The model number is on the box, not on the fondue set. The brand name is found on the box. The fondue sets are stainless steel and include various components, including a fondue pot, burner, and fondue forks. Only the burners sold with these fondue sets are being recalled, not the entire fondue sets. Lifetime Hoan Corp. will help consumers identify if their burner is recalled. No other fondue set is involved in this recall.

Metropolitan Ice Recessed Lights (Cooper) – Potential Hazard (2000)

These recessed lights were sold from catalogs under Halo Brand Metropolitan Ice Series #945 and #1945. They have blue, rose and frosted clear glass rings that are about 5 inches in diameter. The glass ring assembly snaps into an installed ceiling fixture recessed light housing. Once installed, only the glass is visible. Only model numbers 945, 945H, 945BLUE, 945BLH, 945ROSE, 945ROH, 1945, 1945H, 1945BLUE, 1945BLH, 1945ROSE, and 1945ROH are involved in this recall. The model number appears on a white stick-on label on the black trim ring. Consumers should turn off the power before checking their lights. Consumers that have recessed lights with 5-inch exterior glass rings should call Cooper Lighting. The firm will provide instructions on how to remove the glass ring assembly to check lights to see if they are part of this recall. Lights without bracing clips are not part of this recall.

KX65 Motorcycles (Kawasaki) – Potential Safety Risk (2000)

These KX65 Model Year 2000 motorcycles have a Vehicle Identification Number (VIN) located on their frame behind the front fork. Recalled motorcycles carry VIN numbers with the last four digits between 0001 and 6668. The motorcycles are small, two-wheel, off-road motocross competition vehicles designed for rough terrain. The fenders and bodywork are lime green with large "Kawasaki" decals on each side.

Curious George Musical Pull Toys (Prestige) – Potential Defect (2000)

The toy is a stuffed fabric toy with Curious George holding two red and yellow balloons, attached by two retractable green fabric covered elastic cords. It can hang from cribs, playpens, or other juvenile furniture. A red tag on the toy reads in part "STYLE # 3490, Curious George Adventures, and Made In China." When the cords are pulled, the toy plays music as the cords retract.

Honda Rancher TRX350 ATVs A mounting bracket on the front suspension of the Honda Rancher TRX350 models could be welded improperly to the frame. If this mounting bracket breaks, the vehicle could lose steering control and crash. These ATVs are red, orange or olive green. "Honda Rancher" is written on the sides of the ATV's fuel tank. Playworld Systems Announce Recall of Playground Slides Recall Alert U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission Office of Information and Public Affairs Washington, DC 20207 October 26, 2000 Alert #01-501 CPSC, Playworld Systems Announce Recall of Playground Slides PRODUCT: Playground Slides - Playworld Systems, of Lewisburg, Pa., is recalling 55 public playground stainless steel slides. The slides were sold as single and double stainless steel slides measuring 36 to 72 inches high. Playworld Systems manufactured and sold the slides from January 2000 through September 2000 for between $1,500 and $4,000. Playworld Systems' plastic slides are not included in this recall alert. PROBLEM: The welding of the slide bed to the slide sidewall can crack and separate and children's fingers can get caught in the space, posing a risk of amputation. INCIDENTS/INJURIES:There has been one report of a severed fingertip of a 6-year-old child. WHAT TO DO:Contact Playworld Systems at (800) 233-8404 between 8 a.m. and 5 p.m. ET Monday through Friday to receive a new slide. Playworld Systems sold these slides to schools, parks and playgrounds and has contacted all known purchasers by telephone and has also sent notices by mail.

Chest Freezers (AHAM) – Vintage Safety Risk (2000)

The freezers that are part of this program were made before 1970 by more than 40 manufacturers, a number of whom do not exist today. Consumers can determine if their chest freezer poses a hazard by trying to open the freezer without using the handle. If the freezer can be opened by pulling up on sides of the lid, it is not a hazard. If the lid only opens by using the handle, it needs to be properly disposed of or disabled. Up to 9 million chest freezers were manufactured between 1945 and 1970 before voluntary safety standards went into effect, allowing freezers to be opened from the inside. The freezers that are part of this program were made before 1970 by more than 40 manufacturers, a number of whom do not exist today. Infant Car Seats (Century) – Safety Concern (2000)

"Riding in a child safety seat on the car's rear seat for every trip is the safest way to transport young children in a motor vehicle," said NHTSA Administrator Dr. Sue Bailey. "The recall announced today is only related to using the seat as a carrier (not how the seat performs while in a car). Parents should continue using these carriers as car seats." The recall involves all Century rear-facing infant car seats/carriers with one-piece handles, manufactured from January 1991 through July 1997. The date of manufacture, written as month, day, year (010191 through 073197), can be found on a label on the side of the seat. The recalled car seats/carriers have a molded, one-piece, one-color plastic handle colored white, gray, or tan.

Battery Chargers (DeWALT) – Charging Malfunction (2000)

The battery chargers are model number DW9116, which is written on the front and bottom of the charger housing. The chargers are black with yellow lettering. "DeWALT" is written on the front of the chargers. The recalled chargers have date codes from 9927EM through 9952EM and 0001EM through 0031EM located on the bottom of the charger. These chargers are for 9.6- to 18-volt batteries used with DeWALT cordless tools. Chargers with a yellow or green dot sticker near the date code already have been repaired, and are not recalled.

The recalled extension cords and cord reels are equipped with a LockJaw™ locking plug. The LockJaw™ plug has the following words embedded on the red, green or yellow locking button, located on the side of the plug, "LOCK, WOODS®, OPEN" or "LOCK, OPEN". The extension cords were sold under the "Woods LockJaw™" and "Yellow Jacket® LockJaw™" brand names in various wire gauges, lengths and colors. The cord reels are 30 feet long, and were sold under the "Woods' ACDelco" and "LumaPro" brand names in various wire gauges and colors. Some of the extension cords and cord reels have two-prong plugs and some have three- prong plugs. Some have the brand name on the cord. They are UL listed, assembled in the United States or Malaysia with a LockJaw™ plug made in China.

Playground Swings Recalled by Playworld Systems Recall Alert U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission Office of Information and Public Affairs Washington, DC 20207 October 3, 2000 Alert #01-506 CPSC, Playworld Systems Announce Recall of Playground Swings PRODUCT: Playground Swings - Playworld Systems, of Lewisburg, Pa., is recalling about 370 playground swing sets for repair. These swings are called the Aluminum 2-Seat Arch Swing, model 0288 and the Add-A-Bay Arch Swing, model 0375. The swing sets are made of 3-1/2 inch aluminum tubing and come in a variety of solid colors. Playworld Systems sold the swings from February 1998 through May 2000 for between $640 and $975. PROBLEM: The swings connectors, which attach the top bar to the end supports, can crack and the top bar can break off and hit children on the swings. INCIDENTS/INJURIES: There have been two reports of children being injured including a fractured toe and bruises. WHAT TO DO: Consumers should stop using the swings immediately and call Playworld Systems at (800) 233-8404 between 8 a.m. and 5 p.m ET Monday through Friday to receive a repair kit. Announce Recall of Road Bikes and Handlebar Stems WASHINGTON, D.C. - In cooperation with the U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC), Trek Bicycle Corp., of Waterloo, Wis., is voluntarily recalling about 13,600 road bikes and about 4,700 road bike handlebar stems that were sold separately. The bolts on these bikes' handlebar stems can break, resulting in the handlebars detaching from the bike and causing riders to lose control and crash. Trek Bicycle Corp. has received three reports of handlebar stems breaking, resulting in two riders suffering injuries, including a concussion and a broken collarbone. These Icon? brand Havana? and Bordeaux? stems were sold separately and installed on various 1999 model Trek and Klein road bikes. Only Icon? stems that measure 0.75-inch or 17mm to 20mm across the front of the top clamp are part of this recall. Announce Recall of Play Sets to Replace Swing Chains WASHINGTON, D.C. - In cooperation with the U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC), Rainbow Play Systems Inc., of Brookings, S.D., is voluntarily recalling about 7,000 play sets to replace swing chains. The chains can break while children are swinging and cause the swing seats to fall to the ground. Children can suffer injuries from falling to the ground while swinging. Rainbow Play Systems has received seven reports of chains breaking. A 3-year old boy suffered scrapes and a bruise to his head when he fell to the ground after a chain broke. During inspections, distributors found four defective chains. The swing chains are used on all models of Rainbow Play Systems play set swings and are covered in yellow or green vinyl. Rainbow play sets are made with redwood, and feature more than 50 different models and custom designed sets. In addition to swings, the play sets features include various types of slides, rope ladders, rings, ladders, canvas- covered forts and castles, and fire poles. "Rainbow Play Systems" is written on the slides. Rainbow Play System stores nationwide sold the play sets with the defective chains from March 2000 through June 2000 for between $1,200 and $6,000. Consumers should stop using the swings on these play sets immediately, and contact the company to determine if the chains are defective. If so, remove the chains and return them to the store where purchased for free replacement chains.
