Arctic Cat ATVs – Red Green Models (2002)

The recalled 2002 model ATVs are either red or green. They have the brand name "Arctic Cat" written on both sides of the vehicle. The recall includes the following ATV model names: 250, 300, 300 Massey Ferguson, 375, 400, 400i, 500, TBX 500 and 500i. Consumers should have their ATV's model name and 13-digit model number available when they call or visit the firm's website to determine if an ATV is included in the recall. The model name is located on the front of the ATVs, just below the speedometer. The model number is included in the registration materials received at the time of purchase.

Arctic Cat 500 ATV (Arctic Cat) – Transmission Risk (2001)

The Arctic Cat 500 is a four-wheeled ATV with a manual transmission. These models carry the identification "Arctic Cat" on both sides of the bodywork, inboard of the operator's knee location. The ATVs are green with "Arctic Cat 500" written on the front of the chassis by the steering control. This recall pertains only to the ATVs that have one of the following VIN numbers: 4UF02ATV12T206459 through 4UF02ATV42T207010. The VIN number is located on the right rear corner of the frame.

Announce Recall of Candles WASHINGTON, D.C. - In cooperation with the U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC), Midwest of Cannon Falls Inc., of Cannon Falls, Minn., is voluntarily recalling about 2,000 novelty candles. When the duck- shaped candle burns, the pooling of wax can ignite the paint on the duck, posing fire and burn hazards to consumers. CPSC and Midwest of Cannon Falls have not received any reports of injuries. This recall is being conducted to prevent the possibility of injury. The candles are 3 1/2 inches tall and are in the shape of a yellow duck sitting on a green base. The duck has a blue ribbon around its neck, and has an orange beak. A label on the bottom of the candle has the UPC code - 7 38449 38819 8 - and says, "Made in China." Gift shops, drug stores, and florists nationwide sold the candles from September 2000 through January 2001 for about $2. Consumers should stop using the candles immediately and return them to the store where purchased for a refund. Deep Fryers (T-Fal) – potential burn (1997)

March 25, 1997 Release # 97-089 WASHINGTON, D.C. - In cooperation with the U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC), T-Fal Corp. of Pine Brook, N.J., is voluntarily recalling about 29,000 deep fryers with fixed pots. Some of these deep fryers have heating elements that can overheat, presenting a risk of burn injuries.T-Fal has received 25 reports of the deep fryers' heating elements overheating, which resulted in the units' bases beginning to melt. While some counter tops have been damaged, T-Fal is not aware of any injuries or fires involving these deep fryers. There are three models of deep fryers subject to this recall. The models involved in this recall have fixed pots and were manufactured during particular weeks of 1996, as indicated in the following table. The fixed pot "Superclean Maxi" fryer (models 3358 and 3360) displays the words, "T-FAL SUPERCLEAN SAFETY FRYER MAXI." The fryers all have a molded white plastic exterior and a lid that opens on a hinge and locks into place.The deep fryers are packaged in a cardboard carton labeled in part, "T-FAL SUPERCLEAN SAFETY FRYER." Labeling on the carton is written in English, French, Spanish, and Portuguese. The carton displays a picture of the deep fryer.Major retail stores nationwide (including Ames, Bradlees, and Hills) and QVC (home shopping television program) sold the deep fryers from May through December 1996 for about $50 to $70.Consumers should immediately stop using the deep fryers subject to this recall and call T-Fal toll-free at (800) 395-8325. T-Fal will inspect the fryers and provide a free replacement to consumers who own fryers with problem heating elements. No T-Fal deep fryers with removable pots or fryers with fixed pots manufactured during other weeks are involved inthis recall

Hi-Speed Toasters (T-Fal) – electrical safety (1995)

July 25, 1995 Release # 95-149 WASHINGTON, D.C. - CPSC, TEFAL Corporation of Pine Brook, N.J., is voluntarily recalling 6,775 Model 8781 Hi-Speed Toasters. The toaster's heating unit may not turn off, presenting a potential fire hazard.TEFAL received 11 reports of the toaster overheating. In some instances, food items caught fire; and in one instance, a fire from the toaster caused damage to a kitchen. The white plastic toasters measure approximately 14 inches long, 6 inches high, and 4.5 inches wide. The words "TEFAL Hi-speed Thick 'n' Thin" appear on the side of the toaster. A dial with six control settings is located in the bottom right hand corner of the front of the toaster.Various retailers sold the toasters nationwide from June 1994 to December 1994 for $29.99.Consumers who own a toaster manufactured by TEFAL should disconnect it and check the model number located on a metal plate on the bottom of the toaster. Consumers who have a Model 8781 toaster should contact TEFAL at (800) 395-8325 to arrange for a replacement or refund. CPSC and TEFAL are not aware of injuries involving this product. Children's Jewelry (Midwest Cannon Falls) – lead paint (1993)

DECEMBER 13, 1993 Release # 94-017 PRODUCT: Children's necklaces and bracelets imported and distributed by Midwest Importers of Cannon Falls, Inc. The products are made of wooden blue, pink, purple and yellow colored beads with white wooden rabbits and orange wooden carrots strung on elastic strings. Approximately 26,000 necklaces and 39,000 bracelets were sold at retail stores nationwide from December 1992 through October 1993. PROBLEM: The paint on the beads contain levels of lead that exceed government standards, presenting a safety hazard to children. WHAT TO DO: Consumers should immediately take the necklaces and bracelets away from children and return them to the store where they were purchased for a full refund. For more information, consumers may call Midwest Importers at 1-507-263-4261. WASHINGTON, DC --- CPSC, Midwest Importers of Cannon Falls, Inc., Cannon Falls, MN is voluntarily recalling about 26,000 24-inch children's toy necklaces and 39,000 6-inch children's toy bracelets. Testing by the company revealed that the levels of lead in the products' paint exceeds government standards, presenting a safety hazard to children. Even though CPSC and the company know of no poisoning incidents, this recall is being conducted to prevent the possibility of poisoning. Both the necklaces and bracelets are constructed of wooden blue, pink, purple, and yellow colored beads with white wooden rabbits and orange wooden carrots strung on elastic strings. Each product is packaged in an 3-inch by 3-inch cardboard box with a transparent plastic lid. The boxes are not labeled except for a small adhesive tag attached to an elastic string which says "Made in China" and bears the Cannon Falls copyright. The products were imported from China and sold at retail stores nationwide from December 1992 through October 1993. The necklaces sold for approximately $3.00 each and bracelets sold for approximately $1.00 each. Consumers are urged to immediately take the necklaces and bracelets away from children and return them to the store where they were purchased for a full refund. CPSC is announcing this recall as part of its mission to protect the public from unreasonable risks of injury and death associated with consumer products. Wiring Problem Prompts Deep Fat Fryer Inspection NEWS from CPSC U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission Office of Information and Public Affairs Washington, DC 20207 FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE February 28, 1989 Release # 89-016 Wiring Problem Prompts Deep Fat Fryer Inspection WASHINGTON -- T-Fal Corporation of Fairfield, N.J. is notifying consumers that certain of its TEFAL type 8215 deep fat fryers may have the potential for serious electric shock. T-FAL has identified a wiring problem that may exist in certain type 8215 fryers with specific manufacturing date codes. The firm has received two reports of shock out of approximately 40,000 units of this model that bear these specific date codes. In voluntary cooperation with the U.S. Consumer Product safety Commission, T-FA.L will verify and correct consumer units which have specific date codes. Fryers involved are identified as TEFAL, Safety Super Fryer, type 8215 and have a three or four digit manufacturing code which ends in the numbers 6, 7 or 8. The fryers with numbers ending in 8 must also be preceded by the number 22 or less. Before calling, consumers should look on the bottom of their fryers for the type and date code numbers, then call T-FAL toll-free at 1-800-548-0588, or write T-FAL Corporation, 23 Kulick Road, Fairfield, N.J. 07006. Consumers with type 8215 fryers should stop using the appliance immediately until contacting T-FAL for further instructions as to the need for any correction.
