The sets include a hand mixer with a knob that can break off, posing a choking hazard to young children. CPSC and BRIO have not received any reports of incidents. This recall is being conducted to prevent the possibility of injuries. The yellow, blue and red hand mixers are 5.5 inches long, and are sold along with toy utensils, rolling pin, mixing bowl, and baking molds. The BRIO Small Baking Set and BRIO Baking Set are labeled for children ages 2 years and older and are packaged in a clear-plastic tote. Inside of the tote, a label reads, "PARENTS: ENSURE THE ITEMS ARE WASHED THOROUGHLY BEFORE USE." The recalled baking sets have a model number of either 31798 or 31795. Specialty stores, Internet retailers, and mail order catalogs sold the toys nationwide from March 1999 through April 2001 for $15 to $25. Announce Recall of Swings on Backyard Gym Sets WASHINGTON, D.C.- In cooperation with the U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC), Hedstrom® Corp., of Bedford, Pa., and their subsidiary Backyard Products, of Collingwood, Ontario, recalled to repair about 190,000 Star Cruiser® and Rocket Rider® swings on backyard gym sets. Screws that hold the swing together can fall out, causing the seat to fall to the ground, posing an injury risk to children. Hedstrom had received 291 reports of seats separating, including 19 children who suffered lacerations, scrapes and bruises. The recalled swings, which come with separate pieces for the seat and handle bars/leg rest, were sold with Hedstrom metal and wood gym sets, wood kits, and as accessories. The Star Cruiser has a one-piece seat, with a white plastic circle and the words, "Star Cruiser" and "Hedstrom" on the front of the handle bars/leg rest. A mesh backing, called a Safe-T TM Backrest, can be connected to back of the seat. The Rocket Rider is a 'see-saw' swing, with a white seat on which two children can sit back-to-back. The words, "Rocket Rider" are printed on the front of each of the two handle bars/leg rests. Department, toy, discount, lumber, and hardware stores nationwide, including Toys "R" Us, Wal-Mart and Kmart, sold the gyms from September 2000 through April 2001 for $150 to $400. Consumers should stop using the swings immediately, detach them from the gym set, and discard or destroy them. The firm is out of business and a repair is no longer available.

The elastic toggle cord on the end of the zipper pulls can loosen and come off, posing a choking hazard to young children. Saks has received one report of a toggle coming off. No injuries have been reported. This recall is being conducted to prevent the possibility of injury. The recalled vests are red nylon/blue fleece reversible zippered vests sold in toddler sizes 2T through 4T. They were sold under the URIT and Parisian Kids brands. The zipper pulls have black and white checkered elastic toggles on the ends. There is a front zipper and three pocket zippers. Labels sewn into the front side pocket read in part "Parisian kids" or "URIT" and "MADE IN KOREA SEE REVERSE FOR CARE." Department stores including, Parisian, Carson Pirie Scott, Younkers, McRae's, Proffitt's, Bergner's, Herberger's and Boston Store nationwide sold the vests from July 2000 through January 2001 for about $24. These glue guns can overheat, presenting fire and burn hazards to consumers. CPSC and Sears have not received any reports of injuries. This recall is being conducted in order to prevent the possibility of injuries. The recalled glue guns were sold in Sears Craftsman Instant-On Bonder Kits, and included glue sticks, a silicone mat, and a black plastic case. The glue gun is black with a red trigger, and bears the Craftsman logo on one side. The other side has a label which reads in part, "Craftsman Glue Gun 526.804420" and "Caution: Nozzle and Glue Can Cause Burns." Sears, Orchard Supply and QVC sold the glue guns nationwide from October 2000 through March 2001 for approximately $20. Consumers should stop using the glue guns immediately and return them to the place of purchase or their nearest Sears store for a full refund. The switches on these power tools, which were manufactured by Eaton Corp., of Cleveland, Ohio, can stick. The drills can continue to operate after the trigger is released, posing a risk of injury to consumers. Milwaukee Electric Tool Corp. has received four reports of drill switches sticking in the on position and one report of a hand injury. DEWALT has received three reports of drill switches sticking in the on position but no reported injuries. Components inside the soda machine can break apart, posing a serious risk of lacerations to consumers who can be struck by shrapnel. There have been three reports of incidents: a 7-year-old boy suffered lacerations to the neck and arms that required hospitalization; a 44-year-old man suffered multiple fractures and a laceration to his right hand; and a 52-year-old man suffered lacerations to his right hand and chin, a fracture of the little finger and contusions to the stomach. The recalled soda machines are shaped like coffee makers, with a white exterior and a black lid, under which a carbon dioxide container and mixing ingredients are placed. The model name, "Drink Master," "Drink Maker," "The Drink Machine," or "The Carbonator" is printed in black on the front of the machine. Under the lid are the words "Made in Sweden." The soda makers were sold at state and county fairs and conventions between 1990 and 1996 for about $200 to $250. Consumers should stop using these soda machines immediately and call The Soft Drink Company, of Seattle, Washington, toll-free at (877) 438-7632 between 9 a.m. and 5 p.m. PT Monday through Friday to receive a free repair. The yellow pom-pom can detach, posing a choking hazard to young children. CPSC and Unilever Home and Personal Care USA have received one report of an infant who put the pom-pom in his mouth, gagged and began to choke before his mother removed the pom-pom. The bear was included as a promotional item in Snuggle®, Cuddle Up®, Fresh Rain TM, and Sweet Slumber TM fabric softener products sold in twin packs. Each twin pack contains a bottle of liquid fabric softener and a box of softener sheets along with the bear. The bean bear is 5 inches tall and wears a blue nightcap with a yellow moon and star design. At the end of the nightcap is a yellow pom-pom. A label on the bear reads in part "©2001 Lever Brothers Company, Made In China." Wal-Mart Stores nationwide sold the twin packs containing the bear with the pom-pom on the cap from March 2001 through April 2001 for between $7 and $8. Consumers should immediately remove the bear's pom-pom to eliminate the choking hazard. A component failure can cause the Faxphone to catch on fire. Canon U.S.A. received five reports of Faxphones catching on fire and causing damage to the machines. No injuries have been reported. The recall involves Canon Faxphones with model number B640. "FAXPHONE B640" is written on the front of the machines. The units being recalled have serial numbers UKK52923 to UKK55442, UKK60513 to UKK99999, and YKK02001 to YKK20000. The serial number is printed on a silver label located on the back of the machines. Electronics, office products and computer stores nationwide sold these machines from October 1999 through May 2001 for between $130 and $200. Some of the nets have enlarged openings. If children put their heads into these enlarged openings, the net can get tangled around their necks and they could strangle. Fisher-Price has not received any reports of injuries. This recall is being conducted to prevent the possibility of injuries. The recalled Grow-to-Pro Basketball set has a black pole that adjusts from 3 to 6 feet. A nylon net with an orange plastic hoop is attached to the pole, along with a gray backboard. The Fisher-Price logo is on the front of the backboard; and the model number, 72408, along with the words, "Made in U.S.A." are on the other side of the backboard. Toy, mass merchandise and discount stores sold these toys nationwide from January 2001 through May 2001 for about $30. Consumers should stop using the basketball set immediately. Inc., of Southport, Conn. is voluntarily recalling 1.2 million padlocks and 800,000 cable gun locks that bear the "Ruger" name. The padlocks can be opened using keys other than those originally provided with the locks and the cable locks can be opened if struck with force potentially allowing unauthorized access to a firearm. Ruger is aware of three incidents where a consumer was able to open a padlock without the use of its designated key. No injuries have been reported. Lockable boxes using these padlocks were shipped by Ruger with its pistols and revolvers from 1987 until 1995. The red cable locks were shipped with Ruger rifles and shotguns from 1998 until March 2001. These locks were distributed nationwide. Ruger began its voluntary lock replacement program in March 2001. Boiling water can be expelled from the kettle's spout, presenting a burn hazard to consumers. Kmart has received 14 reports of boiling water being expelled, resulting in three minor burn injuries. The recalled tea kettles were sold under the MARTHA STEWART EVERYDAY brand name, and are stainless steel or white, sage, or slate colored porcelain. The words, "MSE Thailand" are printed on the knob attached to the lid of the kettle. Kmart sold the tea kettles nationwide from October 2000 through March 2001 for about $25 to $30. Consumers should stop using these tea kettles immediately and return them to any Kmart store for a refund. The plastic protective shell of these guards can break when it is hit against a hard surface, resulting in impact injuries to the wrestler's head.ASICS TIGER Corp. has received 10 reports of the plastic shells of these guards breaking, resulting in three injuries. The injuries reported include cuts and abrasions to the side of the head and ear.The recall involves ASIC Gel Wrestling Ear Guard with Neoprene. The guard includes two plastic ear pieces covered with neoprene nylon. The ASICS red logo is on a label on the guard's strap. A gold label inside the guard reads, "MADE IN CHINA." A date code can be found written on the neoprene nylon underneath the outer rim of the ear piece. The recalled guards have date codes beginning with "98" or "99." The guards are white, red, purple, black, navy blue, royal blue, green or gold.Sports specialty and team sport stores, and team sport catalogs sold these guards nationwide from June 1998 through March 2001 for about $25.Consumers should stop using these ear guards immediately, and return them to the store where purchased or to the firm for a free replacement. The front-suspension forks on these bicycles can break during use, resulting in serious injury.Dynacraft has received 33 reports of the front-suspension forks on these bicycles breaking, resulting in 32 injuries that included a blood clot in the brain, broken bones, cuts, bruises and chipped teeth.These 20-inch, 21-speed, dual-suspension bicycles have the model name "NEXT SHOCKZONE" written on their orange frame in black lettering. A label on the frame near the crank housing reads, "Distributed by Dynacraft Industries" and "Made in China." Only the orange bicycles with model number 8536-33 are included in this recall. The model number is written on another label on the frame near the crank housing.Wal-Mart stores sold these bicycles nationwide from September 1999 through March 2001 for about $130.Consumers should stop using these bicycles immediately, and call Dynacraft to receive a free replacement fork and to arrange for free installation. Fabric used in these costumes can ignite readily and presents a serious risk of burn injuries in violation of the Federal Flammable Fabrics Act.CPSC and Disney are aware of two reports of costumes igniting, resulting in one burn injury to a 4-year-old girl.The Princess Ariel costume has a green skirt with two layers of netting on top and a sequined purple metallic bodice with a picture of Ariel. The costumes were sold in youth sizes 2-4, 4-6X and 8-10. The neckline labels read "The Disney Store."The Disney Store sold the costumes for Halloween from July 2000 through October 2000. The Disney Store catalog and DisneyStore.com sold the costumes from July 2000 through January 2001. The costumes sold for about $29.Consumers should stop wearing these costumes immediately, and return them to any Disney Store or to the Disney Store catalog for a refund and a $10 gift certificate.
