The rockets, once propelled from launcher, can fly rapidly in unpredictable directions, and can hit and injure children. Spin Master Toys has received five reports of the rockets striking children, including a report of a child being hit by the rocket in the head. The rockets have a transparent blue plastic body with a red soft foam nose and blue or yellow rocket fins. Each rocket comes with a color coordinated launcher that attaches to a garden hose. The rocket is powered by water and air. A label on the front of the rocket launcher reads in part, "SPLASH BLAST WATER ROCKET," "CAUTION STAY CLEAR OF ROCKET DURING LAUNCH." Imprinted on the base of the rocket launcher is the month, day and year code that reads MM/DD/YYYY followed by the letters AC. This recall includes rockets manufactured up to March 17, 2001 (03172001AC). Major department stores, wholesale clubs and specialty stores, including Wal Mart, Toys R US, and Costco nationwide sold the rockets from January 2001 through March 2001 for about $20. Consumers should stop using the recalled water rocket toys immediately and call Spin Master Toys at (800) 622-8339 between 9 a.m. and 5 p.m. ET Monday through Friday to receive a replacement rocket. Some changing table joints were not properly glued and can separate, presenting a fall hazard to babies. Child Craft has received six reports of the changing tables falling apart, including one report of a baby starting to fall from a collapsing table when she was caught by her mother. No injuries have been reported. The changing table is made of beech wood and comes in a variety of colors including white, honey oak, natural and cherry finishes. The table measures about 38 inches high by 35 inches wide by 20 inches deep. There are two labels on one of the rails of the changing table. One label is gold and reads in part "Child Craft Industries" and the other label is stamped in black ink and reads in part "FoppsPedretti, Made in Italy." Department and specialty stores nationwide, including Sears and Burlington Coat Factory, sold the changing tables from August 1998 through April 2001 for about $150. These glue guns can overheat, presenting fire and burn hazards to consumers. CPSC and Sears have not received any reports of injuries. This recall is being conducted in order to prevent the possibility of injuries. The recalled glue guns were sold in Sears Craftsman Instant-On Bonder Kits, and included glue sticks, a silicone mat, and a black plastic case. The glue gun is black with a red trigger, and bears the Craftsman logo on one side. The other side has a label which reads in part, "Craftsman Glue Gun 526.804420" and "Caution: Nozzle and Glue Can Cause Burns." Sears, Orchard Supply and QVC sold the glue guns nationwide from October 2000 through March 2001 for approximately $20. Consumers should stop using the glue guns immediately and return them to the place of purchase or their nearest Sears store for a full refund. Some of the nets have enlarged openings. If children put their heads into these enlarged openings, the net can get tangled around their necks and they could strangle. Fisher-Price has not received any reports of injuries. This recall is being conducted to prevent the possibility of injuries. The recalled Grow-to-Pro Basketball set has a black pole that adjusts from 3 to 6 feet. A nylon net with an orange plastic hoop is attached to the pole, along with a gray backboard. The Fisher-Price logo is on the front of the backboard; and the model number, 72408, along with the words, "Made in U.S.A." are on the other side of the backboard. Toy, mass merchandise and discount stores sold these toys nationwide from January 2001 through May 2001 for about $30. Consumers should stop using the basketball set immediately. Inc., of Lake Success, N.Y., is voluntarily recalling about 60,000 Faxphones. The Faxphones are combination plain-paper copiers and facsimile machines. A component failure can cause the Faxphone to catch on fire. Canon U.S.A. received five reports of Faxphones catching on fire and causing damage to the machines. No injuries have been reported. The recall involves Canon Faxphones with model number B640. "FAXPHONE B640" is written on the front of the machines. The units being recalled have serial numbers UKK52923 to UKK55442, UKK60513 to UKK99999, and YKK02001 to YKK20000. The serial number is printed on a silver label located on the back of the machines. Electronics, office products and computer stores nationwide sold these machines from October 1999 through May 2001 for between $130 and $200. The switches on these power tools, which were manufactured by Eaton Corp., of Cleveland, Ohio, can stick. The drills can continue to operate after the trigger is released, posing a risk of injury to consumers. Milwaukee Electric Tool Corp. has received four reports of drill switches sticking in the on position and one report of a hand injury. DEWALT has received three reports of drill switches sticking in the on position but no reported injuries. Components inside the soda machine can break apart, posing a serious risk of lacerations to consumers who can be struck by shrapnel. There have been three reports of incidents: a 7-year-old boy suffered lacerations to the neck and arms that required hospitalization; a 44-year-old man suffered multiple fractures and a laceration to his right hand; and a 52-year-old man suffered lacerations to his right hand and chin, a fracture of the little finger and contusions to the stomach. The recalled soda machines are shaped like coffee makers, with a white exterior and a black lid, under which a carbon dioxide container and mixing ingredients are placed. The model name, "Drink Master," "Drink Maker," "The Drink Machine," or "The Carbonator" is printed in black on the front of the machine. Under the lid are the words "Made in Sweden." The soda makers were sold at state and county fairs and conventions between 1990 and 1996 for about $200 to $250. Consumers should stop using these soda machines immediately and call The Soft Drink Company, of Seattle, Washington, toll-free at (877) 438-7632 between 9 a.m. and 5 p.m. PT Monday through Friday to receive a free repair. The yellow pom-pom can detach, posing a choking hazard to young children. CPSC and Unilever Home and Personal Care USA have received one report of an infant who put the pom-pom in his mouth, gagged and began to choke before his mother removed the pom-pom. The bear was included as a promotional item in Snuggle®, Cuddle Up®, Fresh Rain TM, and Sweet Slumber TM fabric softener products sold in twin packs. Each twin pack contains a bottle of liquid fabric softener and a box of softener sheets along with the bear. The bean bear is 5 inches tall and wears a blue nightcap with a yellow moon and star design. At the end of the nightcap is a yellow pom-pom. A label on the bear reads in part "©2001 Lever Brothers Company, Made In China." Wal-Mart Stores nationwide sold the twin packs containing the bear with the pom-pom on the cap from March 2001 through April 2001 for between $7 and $8. Consumers should immediately remove the bear's pom-pom to eliminate the choking hazard. CPSC, Vermont Castings, Majestic Products Announce Recall of Space Heaters WASHINGTON, D.C. - In cooperation with the U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC), Vermont Castings, Majestic Products (VCMP), of Ontario, Canada, recalled about 3,900 space heaters. Overheating inside the space heaters can cause the exterior to become extremely hot, posing fire and burn hazards to consumers. VCMP had received three reports of the space heaters overheating, resulting in scorched floors and wall coverings. No injuries have been reported The recalled heaters are white with a silver grill cover. The vent-less heaters have the name "Vermont Castings" on the label directly below the grill. The heater model numbers start with the letters VBVH or VPVH and can be found on a rating plate on the left side of the heater. Independent retailers in the southeastern U.S. sold these recalled heaters from August 2000 to January 2001 for $200 to $400. Consumers should stop using the heaters immediately and discard or destroy them. The company is no longer in business and a remedy is no longer available.

Liquid can enter the indicator light and can cause sparking and flaming in the light, presenting a fire hazard to consumers. Maytag has received fifteen reports of flames in the indicator lights. No injuries have been reported. The recalled electric ranges are 30-inch free-standing units with the control panel in the front between the door panel and main top. The Crosley brand name ranges have model numbers CE35000AAW or CE35000AAT, and the Magic Chef brand name ranges have model numbers CER1110AAT or CER1110AAH. The brand names can be found on the control panel or the back guard panel and the model number can be located by opening the storage drawer and looking at the tag on the left side. Appliance stores and distributors nationwide sold the ranges from January 2000 through March 2001 for between $270 and $290. Consumers should stop using their electric ranges immediately and disconnect power to them. Announce Recall to Replace Padlocks and Cable Gun Locks WASHINGTON, D.C. - In cooperation with the U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC), Sturm, Ruger & Co. Inc., of Southport, Conn. is voluntarily recalling 1.2 million padlocks and 800,000 cable gun locks that bear the "Ruger" name. The padlocks can be opened using keys other than those originally provided with the locks and the cable locks can be opened if struck with force potentially allowing unauthorized access to a firearm. Ruger is aware of three incidents where a consumer was able to open a padlock without the use of its designated key. No injuries have been reported. Lockable boxes using these padlocks were shipped by Ruger with its pistols and revolvers from 1987 until 1995. The red cable locks were shipped with Ruger rifles and shotguns from 1998 until March 2001. These locks were distributed nationwide. Ruger began its voluntary lock replacement program in March 2001. The pedals on these bicycles can loosen and fall off while riding, resulting in serious injury to the rider. Dynacraft and CPSC have received 31 reports of pedals falling off, causing the riders to fall. Injuries to riders include a concussion, broken bones, sprains, abrasions, a laceration and muscle strain. These are men's and women's Magna Equator mountain bicycles. The 26- inch, 18-speed bicycles have the model names "Magna" and "Equator" written on the green-colored women's and red-colored men's bicycle frames in black lettering. Only women's bicycles with model numbers 8546-84 and men's bicycles with model number 8547-19, both of which were manufactured from December 1999 through May 2000, are included in the recall. A label affixed to the frame near the crank housing shows the model, month and year of manufacture. Toys R Us stores nationwide sold these bicycles from January 2000 through mid-April 2001 for about $69. Announce Recall of Notebook Computer Batteries WASHINGTON, D.C.- In cooperation with the U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC), Dell Computer Corp., of Austin, Texas, is voluntarily recalling about 284,000 batteries used in notebook-style personal computers. These batteries can overcharge, causing them to become very hot, release smoke, and possibly catch fire. Dell has received one report of a battery overcharging, resulting in minor property damage. No injuries have been reported. The recalled batteries were sold in Dell Inspiron 5000 and 5000e notebook computers and sold separately for use in both of these systems. The words, "DELL," "MADE IN JAPAN," and "Inspiron 5000 Battery Module" are printed on the top of the batteries. An identification number is written on a colored sticker at the rear of the battery. Those batteries that have colored stickers containing either the number "99" or the series "00 51" or less, and the letter "P" in the first line, are being recalled. Dell sold these batteries nationwide through catalogs and over the Internet from January 2000 through March 2001. The computers with these batteries were sold for between $2,100 and $3,100, and individual batteries were sold for between $100 and $130. Consumers should stop using these batteries immediately and email Dell at 2001BatterySupport@dell.com or write to the company at Dell, Inc., RR2E, MSC #8222, One Dell Way, Round Rock, TX 78682 to obtain a discount on a future purchase from Dell of a new consumer notebook or desktop computer. In October 2000, CPSC announced a recall of Dell Notebook computer batteries for the Inspiron 3700 and 3800 systems.

Inc., of Vandalia, Ohio, is recalling about 3.4 million Joyride® infant car seats/carriers. When the seat is used as an infant carrier, the handle can unexpectedly release, causing the seat to flip forward. When this happens, an infant inside the carrier can fall to the ground and suffer serious injuries. There have been 240 reports, in the United States, of handles unexpectedly releasing, resulting in 97 injuries. These reports include skull fractures, concussions, a broken leg, and numerous scratches and bruises."Evenflo is offering a free repair to prevent the seat from flipping forward," said CPSC Chairman Ann Brown. "It's an easy repair to make, and it is designed to protect your baby from a very serious injury.""Riding in a car seat in the vehicle's rear seat is the safest way to transport young children in a motor vehicle," said NHTSA Executive Director Bob Shelton. Announce Recall of MARTHA STEWART EVERYDAY® Brand Tea Kettles WASHINGTON, D.C.- In cooperation with the U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC), Kmart Corp., of Troy, Mich., is recalling about 24,000 MARTHA STEWART EVERYDAY® brand tea kettles. Boiling water can be expelled from the kettle's spout, presenting a burn hazard to consumers. Kmart has received 14 reports of boiling water being expelled, resulting in three minor burn injuries. The recalled tea kettles were sold under the MARTHA STEWART EVERYDAY brand name, and are stainless steel or white, sage, or slate colored porcelain. The words, "MSE Thailand" are printed on the knob attached to the lid of the kettle. Kmart sold the tea kettles nationwide from October 2000 through March 2001 for about $25 to $30. Consumers should stop using these tea kettles immediately and return them to any Kmart store for a refund.
