Next Ultra Shock Bicycles – Suspension Defect (2002)

The recall includes only Next Ultra Shock bicycles, which are blue, with model numbers 8524-14 and 8526-20. They were manufactured between April 1999 and November 9, 1999. A label affixed to the frame near the crank housing identifies the model and date of manufacture. The name "Ultra Shock" is written on the bicycle down tube in white lettering. Next Ultra Shock bicycles manufactured after November 9, 1999, did not use BY US International-made Ballistic forks, and are not subject to this recall.

EVAC-U8 Emergency Escape Smoke Hoods – Safety Concern (2002)

This recall involves the EVAC-U8 emergency escape smoke hoods. The smoke hood is a bright green plastic cylinder with a clear red top. The cylinder is about 5 inches tall. The words "EVAC-U8 Emergency Escape Smoke Hood" are printed on the cylinder, along with the serial number and expiration date. Recalled smoke hoods have a serial number of A97,921 or higher, and an expiration date of May 1, 2002 or later.

The recalled boilers have the Dunkirk, Sears Kenmore, Bryant, Carrier, Payne, Lennox and Pennco brand names, which is written on the front of the boilers. The model and serial number are located on the data plate located on the right side of the boiler. DANSK Ice Cream Scoop (Dansk Designs) – Quality Defect (2002)

All the recalled Dansk ice cream scoops are made of aluminum and have a 4.5-inch handle. They were sold in four styles: the plain 3.5- inch spade, the plain 2.5-inch scoop, the Penguin-shaped 2.5-inch scoop and the Snowman-shaped 2.5-inch scoop. Each of the scoops is silver colored. The plain scoop and plain spade have the word "DANSK" written on the handle. Ice cream scoops sold by Dansk with a black cap at the end of the handle are not part of this recall.

Baby Buzz'r Toy – Potential Safety Risk (2001)

Choking Hazard

Baby Buzz'r is a round plastic baby toy with a face on the front, a red and blue "teethable ear" on each side, and a yellow circular mirror on the back. The Baby Buzz'r toy has three colored buttons (red, green, blue) on the top of the product. When the buttons are depressed, the toy vibrates, sounds music, or the eyes light up on the toy. Consumers can identify the recalled toys by squeezing the button covers on the top of the toy with pliers. Button covers on toys that are part of the recall can be squeezed out of shape, and button covers on toys not included in the recall can not be squeezed out of shape with pliers. Baby Buzz'r toys currently being sold are not included in this recall.

Presto CoolDaddy Fryer (Presto) – Handle Defect (2001)

The Presto CoolDaddy electric deep fryers have model numbers 0544404 (product number 21-419) and 0544504 (product number 21-439). The deep fryers are white, with the words, "Presto CoolDaddy or "Presto Pride® CoolDaddy®" written on the front. The model numbers are located on the bottom of the deep fryer and the product number is located on the bottom of the carton. Only the deep fryer baskets with silver screws attaching the basket handle are involved in this recall. Basket handles with black screws, and deep fryers with magnetic detachable cords are not involved in this recall.

The toys can break causing small balls to be released, posing a choking hazard to young children. STK International and CPSC have not received any reports of incidents. This recall is being conducted to prevent the possibility of injuries. The following information will help consumers identify the recalled children's toys: "2 PC Tambourine Set": Two tambourines consisting of a colorful plastic ring with three balls attached. Inside of the balls are beads that create a rattle sound when shaken. On each side of the tambourine is a sticker with a female cartoon character and the number 985. "Bathtime Water Wheel": A multi-colored plastic toy with a suction cup base and six small cups attached to a water wheel. "Made in China NO:368" is printed on the back of the water wheel. "Funny Loco Wind-Up": A multi-colored train with a pig character on a sticker placed on both sides of the toy. "Made in China NO:883" is printed on the back of the train. "Pull Back Duck in Boat": A plastic blue and white boat with colored stickers on the side, a transparent red windshield, and white duck mounted on top of the boat. The toy also comes with a miniature fishing pole and a plastic lobster. A yellow sticker on boat reads, "My Baby Products" and "PULLBACK DUCKS IN BOAT, MADE IN CHINA." Dollar stores nationwide sold these toys from September 1999 through May 2001 for about $1. Consumer should take the toys away from children immediately, and return them to STK International for a full refund. Consumers should call STK International toll-free at (800) 536-7855 between 8 a.m. and 5 p.m. PT Monday through Friday for information about where to send the toys. CPSC discovered the violations during an inspection of the company's warehouse.

These bathrobes are 100 percent cotton terry cloth and sold under the brand names Lollypop, Bath Magic and Color Block. The recalled robes are in sizes 0/2 4/6, 8/10, and 12 for the Lollypop and Color Block brands, and in sizes 1, 2/3, 4/6, 7/9, 10/12, and 13/15 for the Bath Magic brands. The web site www.bathrobesonline.com sold these robes from October 1999 through December 2000 for between $17 and $23. PROBLEM: These bathrobes fail to meet the Standard for the Flammability of Children's Sleepwear, and pose a risk of burn injury to children due to the possible ignition of the garment. INCIDENTS/INJURIES: None reported. WHAT TO DO: Consumers should stop their children from wearing this bathrobe immediately, and return the robes to Arusa International, 261 Fifth Avenue, Suite 1905, New York, NY 10016 for a refund including the cost of the robe, shipping, handling, and return shipment. Inc., of Omaha, Neb.; Play By Play Toys & Novelties Inc., of San Antonio, Texas; Rhode Island Novelty, of Johnston, R.I.; Sherman Specialty Co. The balloon tongues and the cylinders holding the tongues on these toys can detach, posing a choking and aspiration hazard to young children. That company received a report of a 3-year-old boy who inhaled a balloon tongue that detached from a Zapper toy into his sinus cavity. He required medical treatment to remove the part from his nose. The vinyl Zapper toys are about 2- to 3-inches long, and come in 12 different styles: smiley face, globe with glasses, troll, bumble bee, lion, bear, tiger, raspberry face, fish, frog, snake, and lizard. When the toy is squeezed, the balloon tongue attached to its mouth inflates or rolls out. "CHINA" or "MADE IN CHINA" is molded into the toy. Toy stores, doctor and dentist offices, and carnivals and circuses sold and distributed these toys from October 1998 through March 2001. They were sold for about $1. Consumers should immediately take these toys away from young children and take them back to where they were purchased for a refund, or throw them away. Ltd., of Taiwan, is recalling about 40,000 Ballistic front suspension forks installed on certain mountain bicycles. The forks on these bicycles can break apart, causing riders to lose control and fall. By Us International Co. previously announced the recall of 13,500 of these forks in May 2000. The firm has since disclosed that more of these forks are included in the recall. There have been 26 reports of forks on these bicycles breaking resulting in nine riders, including teenagers, suffering serious head and bodily injuries, abrasions, bruises and chipped teeth. The recalled forks were installed on Mongoose S-20 and MGX S-20 bicycles, which are orange, and the Roadmaster Ridge Rider bicycles, which is red. The forks on these bikes are black with decals that read "BALLISTIC" and "105" on the sides of the suspension fork legs. Discount department stores, including Wal-Mart, and toy stores sold the bicycles with these forks nationwide from June 1998 through June 2000 for between $125 and $150. Consumers should immediately stop using these bicycles and call the firm to determine if the fork on their bike is part of the recall. Consumers should have the serial number of the forks available. Under certain conditions, these locks can open without the use of a key. This can give unauthorized access to a firearm. The NSSF and its lock supplier, Adstar Inc., of Merrick, N.Y., are unaware of any instances of unauthorized access by adults or children. The locks resemble a bicycle cable lock and have a red cable with a black padlock. Red vinyl bands around the top and bottom of the locks read, "PROJECT" and "HOMESAFE." "MADE IN CHINA" and "30mm" are imprinted on the bottom of the locks. The gun locks were distributed in clear plastic cylinders with Project HomeSafe literature. The gun locks were distributed nationwide by NSSF as part of its Project HomeSafe (now Project ChildSafe) Campaign for safe firearm storage. Law enforcement agencies distributed the gun locks free of charge from September 1999 through October 2000. Recipients of the Project HomeSafe (now Project ChildSafe) gun locks should call (203) 426-1320 or (203) 270-2360 anytime to receive a free replacement gun lock. Until the replacement gun lock is received, keep the original Project HomeSafe lock installed on the firearm. Consumers are reminded to never put a gun lock on a loaded gun, and to take extra precautions to make sure the gun is secure to keep kids safe. The replacement lock has an improved locking mechanism and a thicker braided-steel cable. With the announcement of this replacement lock program, NSSF is resuming Project HomeSafe (Now Project ChildSafe) and encourages communities to enroll in the nationwide program by having a law enforcement official contact the NSSF. NSSF urges consumers to comply with all state and local laws requiring the use of gun locking devices. The toggle, a small plastic ball attached to the laces, can detach, posing a choking hazard to young children. CPSC and BBC International are not aware of any injuries or incidents involving the toggles on these boots. This recall is being conducted to prevent the possibility of injuries. The recalled Crayola® boots come in boys' and girls' styles. The boys' boots are blue and black with a toggle on each boot to use to tighten the laces. The boots have a patch featuring a space scene with a "crayon rocket." The girls' boots are white with pink and lavender trim, and also have a toggle on the laces. The patch on the side of the girls' boot shows a snow scene of two kittens. Both style boots were sold in sizes 6 through 10. A tag on the side of the boots reads, "Crayola®." "MADE IN CANADA" is imprinted on the bottom of the boots. Discount department stores, including Ames, Bradlees, Anne & Hope and Forman Mills, sold these boots from September 1999 through December 1999 for about $20. Consumers should remove the toggles from the laces of these boots immediately and throw the toggles in the trash. Consumers can return the boots to the store where purchased for a refund. Inc., of Flushing, N.Y., is recalling about 2.4 million cigarette lighters. The lighters child-resistant mechanisms fail to meet the requirements of the Consumer Product Safety Act. Young children could ignite the lighters, presenting fire and burn hazards. Additionally, the lighters can leak fuel and remain on after consumers have used them, which also presents fire and burn hazards. CPSC and Shine International Trading Co. Inc. have received three incident reports with these lighters. One incident involved two lighters that continued to burn after the consumer put them down, one involved two lighters that spontaneously blew apart while unattended, and one involved a lighter that burst into flames resulting in minor property damage. No injuries have been reported. The lighters being recalled are non-refillable, oval-tube-shaped, with a transparent solid-colored (red, green, yellow, orange or purple) plastic body and a metal top. The lighters measure about 3.25 inches high and 1 inch wide. "SHINE" is imprinted into the metal top of the lighter. There is a warning label on the lighter. "SHINE" and "MADE IN CHINA" are written on the label. The lighters operate with a roll and press type of ignition mechanism to produce a flame. Small stores and souvenir shops nationwide sold these lighters from August 1998 through July 1999 for about $1. Consumers should stop using these lighters immediately and return them to the store where purchased for a full refund. This recall is being conducted to prevent the possibility of injury. This wooden toy consists of a red, yellow and blue wooden frame with plastic inserts lining the four holes in the top. A wooden hammer and four solid-colored wooden balls are included. The balls are red, green, yellow and blue. They are designed to be hammered through the holes in the top of the toy, and then roll down a ramp to the front of the toy. The cardboard box packaging includes writing in several languages. The English writing states in part, "WOODEN TOY KNOCK-A-BALL *** ITEM NO.785 *** MADE IN CHINA *** NON-TOXIC."
